Default Hi guys Newbie here :)!

Howdy ppl! was very bored last night so I set out to find a Peugeot forum and here Iam. I've always had a soft spot for the 205 and 206 Gti's and obviously now the gti180? I've seen 2 black ones on the road but havent had the chance to chase them down for a good perve.

anyhow i've seen Parry's red beast at the EC track but on that day the car wasnt running. I was so disspointed cause it just simply looked amazing. And on the last EC day i saw a green 205 whos on this board as well but i've forgotten his nickname. good stuff guys........nice to see some euro action for once.

I drive a rusty old bomb of a MKI vw golf 1983..........ya im on the wrong forum but just looking new friends with old euro cars.

Welcome to aussie frogs (sorry didnt get your name).

At the last EC track day I did see a white MK1, was that yours. The green car there was my 405mi16, did 4 laps in it but brake fade made me put it in the shed for the day.

2:08 is very respectable for EC, especially for a first timer, your times will only improve as EC is a very technical track.

Try taking turn 1 flat out :-) there is time to be made there, and make sure turn 10 is perfect as this will set you up fro the main straight!

I will be there on May the 16th. So come along.

    Cheers
    Parry

oh ok yeh i saw that car there.........was such a shame you were in a different group........i wanted to come out in ur session to see what the pug could do.......but obviously i would have been creamed......hehehheeh.

i saw your car that day but on another occasion i've seen this other one thats bright red with rear alteza lights......looked awesome......that day it was tracking with CooperS's but didnt managed to get started and was on semi slicks as well. i've got a pic of him and will post up soon.

yeh i want to wait till i do a few simple mods to the car before i go back on.

I'm kinda hoping you guys get together for a run up old pacific hwy or national park so i can join along.........i love driving on those roads.

anyhow i'll keep an eye out for when you guys have meets.

Welcome to Aussiefrogs. I've always had a soft spot for Mk1 Golf's. Nearly bought one...twice! What is a VWvortexer? Is that a forum for people with blown Dub's?

    Gday William...

I've seen you pop up on a few forums now I think we actually spoke on IRC about 3 or 4 years ago, you had a red Mk1 a while ago right?

2:08 is a pretty respectable time for a first go!

Your Golf looks awesome. You were running RE540's or D01Js weren't you?

    Welcome to the forum.

Good to see others here that want to take their pride and job and flog the daylights out of it (ie drive it like the car was meant o be driven) on the race track.

2:08 is a good time, and you would have been giving some slower WRX's a bit of a hurry up with your Mk1. Love the shape, was looking for one but could find the decent one few years back.
As Parry said, come along to the CSCA event at EC on the 16th (and Oran Park one week later) to see some nice marque cars, Pugs, ( and a Swift ) doing some fast laps.

    What tyres were you running?

Hi Brendan, hmm i can't remember the irc encouter but defly on vortex.

yeh i had 2 front dunlop forumla R's dunno exactly what model but they were very old/worn and took about 3 hard laps to warm up, the rears normal cheap street tyres........i didnt get a chance to balance the front wheels so i was comming down the straight at 160km/hr and the steering wheel wanted to hop off and take turn 1 on its own..........hehehhehe

i'm very keen to go back reason being its so daaam cheap.........and very close to home.

hope u guys org cruises........the vortex guys have one all the time it seems these days.

Hey Parry 2:03:4 is a very respectable time at Eastern Creek! Well done mate!

I managed to crack the 2 minute mark getting a 1:59:6 but that was in my dad's 1973 Porsche 911 RS, it took me about 3 separate track days to do that and I was on the limit, was really driving the door handles off the Porsche. Some of the cars I was beating were a lot 'faster' then mine, such as F355 Ferraris and newer 911's and skylines, etc.

You must have a quick little 205 there

mind tell us what mod's you've done to the car?

    i'll start:
its got a 1992 GTI engine which is 112BHP at the crank
headers and 2" exhaust system but restrictive muffler (might change the muff soon)
    stock air filter
koni adjustable shocks up front and king springs
some gas touring shocks in the rear with ibach springs
    rear 19mm sway bar
front lower tie bar and upper strut brace
front neuspeed 4 point subframe with sway bar as well.
heaps of gaps and rust and light weight 14" rims.

    and a dodgy driver!........hehehhe.

if i get anything under 2:05's next time i'd be over the moon.

a 2:03 is awesome with small engines like ours...........
