    Bob,

This piece - about John Cummins and Bob Holden -
    might be of interest.

I recall in the mid 70's trying to procure one of the Sydney Speed Shop floor shifts for my (early model) 404. No success with that ...

    Hi

I don't have any specific Sydney Speed Shop gear, however I do have what was the contents of Ken Brigden's garage, including the Group Nb 403 race car, which I am hoping to have out on the track again soon. My biggest concern with this is stopping it, as the car has power to spin both back wheels a considerable distance.

The collection of things includes several partially built competition motors and many camshafts of various grinds. There is also a sectionalised head showing how much material can be removed, and I have all the details on effectively setting up the manifold to provide individual port to carburettor throat.

The big webbers on the race car are a work of art, perfectly port matched from air intake to valve head and the motor sounds fantastic !! Unbelievably good in fact.

I am in the Hunter valley of NSW by the way.

    Cheers

    Ok Guys

I will see what I can do over the next few weeks.

I am not that techno savy but assume getting photos up will not be too difficult.

    Ok Guys.

I was in the workshop earlier this evening and snapped a few quick pics of some of the easy to see refinements on the 403 race car. That was the easy bit, now can't work out how to post them.

I might try a Dropbox link when I get some time, unless someone has the no doubt simple tip.

If you click on the "reply" option there is a menu bar (above the screen where you type text) which includes the option "insert image". (It is third option from the right.)

Click on that and it will offer the option to upload images from your computer. (There is a size limit.)

Hope this helps. Keen to see the pics of this car or yours.

    Ian.

These are currently on eBay France. Interesting, but a little expensive at 450 Euros

here are a couple of pics I took last night. Thanks for help in loading up.

When I get a chance I will get the car out in daylight and take better pictures, that show stance, wheel width, 60mm exhaust out under door etc.

    enjoy.

That one is oil catch tank, well down the front to stay away from hot exhaust.

I know that SSS used to supply front sway bars for 203 and 403's...we had them fitted to some of the 403's in our family back in the late 60's early 70's

I used to own one of those Eugene Martin twin-carb manifolds. Sold it to Mal and Steve Goodwin up at Cessnock along with a Constantin supercharger which Steve now has fitted to his 403. I also have one of the locally-manufactured twin-carb manifolds - I'll take a photo and post it.
My sister used to own an ex-Bob Pritchett 403 wagon which had a nice floor shift which I think Bob made himself. I still have the motor out of that car - it has a Waggott cam which hums along very nicely.

On my long departed 403b I had a sway bar which bolted onto the existing bar and really tightened up the front end. Too much in some cases such as the day when doing a front end throw in a motorkhana at Holdsworthy the front wheel caught in a groove in the ground and the car fell over! I also has one of the local twin carby manifolds and a set of extractors.

"existing bar"?...403b never had an existing bar, just a transverse leaf spring and lever shocks. The Sydney Speed Shop sway bar bolted to the two front channels ahead of the steering rack and were attached by brackets to the eyes of the transverse leaf spring.
There was a downside to the SSS sway bar..it did limit the ability to get full lock ... right and left hand ..inside of tyre would rub on bar.

    Cheers
