    Default 307 HDI torque converter?

    Howdy,

My mum just got quoted $7k to fix the auto trans in her 307 HDi wagon, apparently the torque converter is stuffed. After I picked myself off the floor I thought I'd get a second opinion.

Any advice / thoughts? At $7k and with 195,000 km it's not worth fixing

    Thanks

Dave at French Connection would likely be able to sell you a used one in good condition. FC are an Af sponsor.

    What year is the car?

If it's a facelift (2007 or later) with the Japanese Aisin gearbox then I would be very surprised if its gone!

    What are the symptoms?

If you want to PM to me the VIN number, I can look up a few details of the car and gearbox.

    cheers

Was quoted $450 to reco an AL4 HDI torque converter in Brisbane as spares are locally available so worth ringing around. The expensive part is removing and installing the box in the car.

Sorry to spoil the Aisin AW love-fest, but unless I am sorely mistaken I'm not convinced you will find any 307s that are HDi with a 4sp auto.

None that were officially sold, anyway!

HDis were manual until the 6sp auto box appeared late in 2006. This was the year after the facelift (T6) in Oct 2005.

However all t5 hdi's were manual. The petrol ones were al4s. If his car in an hdi auto. Then it has to be a t6 2 liter with the 6 speed auto.
    Or something very very rare!

Some early valve body problems caused tc issues in the first am6s as well as standard problems some had bad seals in the tc circuit as well

It's definitely a 2007 HDi auto, I'll have to get the vin next time I'm over at mums. I haven't driven it so I can't describe the symptoms, apparently it does drive but you need to put it in neutral when you come to a stop. She test drove a 2008, 4008, 508, RAV4, outback, levorg, i30 (it was a long day...)
