    Hey
If you can make it, why don't you make a few. I'm sure a few of the people on here would be keen. I for one am very interested in having one set too/

    Thanks,

Hi fnqvmuch: Would you care to enlighten this ignorant web footed one? I'm not familiar with the history of the plaque despite owning a made in Oz 203C. Would love to know.

    i know nothing really.
It just seemed, in my youth, to be on quite a few of the 203s i looked at - if not sedans.
Now, especially following years of plundering the inter-webs for photos, i am inclined to think it was
unique to some australian-assembled 'U' variants; at least Commerciale knew what I meant - I haven't seen one for years.
Hopefully he, or another fellow traveller, knows a bit more ..

    Hi,

I could be wrong and more then likely am, but I think only the commercial vehicles (utes and Wagons) had them. Don't recall them on any of our family sedans but certainly do on the two wagons we had.

    Cheers

Well, that's new news from the past.

Count me in if a copy badge is made for resale.
also would like to see a picture of one in context.

On a similar note, i have recently got quotes on having copies of the early 'lacework' badge cut by ?water laser from stainless steel.
But thought it too expensive at ~$100 each.
also not sure where to source the small Peugeot sheild that mounts in the center.

Hey Dan, I know of at least two '51-'52 203 sedans that have that particular badge on their boot lids, both in identical positions above the 2nd model boot badge, along with cream coloured dash centre panel on both cars. Maybe a dealership trick of that year! How's the 4oh coming along?

To clear this matter up I can confirm that the blue anodized badges were only fitted to 203U models assembled in NSW by Harden and Johnston. One on each front guard and one under the tailgate of wagons and vans. The equivalent badge on sedans was a cast chromed version on front guards and boot lid. I can only assume that any variation would have been the result of the owner's individual initiative.

hi lo photos would be very much appreciated by those into such detail - i hope not just me.
commerciale - the cast and chrome - like that on most 403s? if the tin ones were only H&J's they certainly moved a lot into the Victorian population ...

Herewith (maybe,if this works - or not - let me know and other means can be tried) a downloadable font which could be of use to someone so inclined:

Thanking Commerciale and iFontMaker ... it is not perfect, just nearly sufficient for me and so I would very much appreciate suggestions, critique, etc., etc. Would be nice to perfect it - while i am doing a 'G'-for-geugeot.

Hi guys.....mind if I muddy the waters a little? I have a (maybe 3mm ) thick heavy chrome rectangular badge of size and shape illustrated by fnqvmuch (rounded corners and all.) All letters are standard block letters and complete badge is chrome. Unfortunately just have the one and the only illustration I have ever seen of it was on a 203 ute / commerciale but in the same position just forward of the front door as illustrated here. Any clues? I'll post a snap in the next day or two when I figure out how........ Think I know!? Cheers. Deane.

Just working on some Peugeot parts with my dad and quizzed him on this topic which he agreed he only recalls the badge on the commercial vehicles...... though just for historic amusement here is the 1955 203 sales brochure for the 203.

sorry photos with phone and not scanned..... Has the font your chasing on the first page.

Funny, on one page it says it's the 1955 model; on another it's back to 1954.

What a fantastic brochure. Something about the hand drawn images, just takes one back in time.

    Cheers

Steven, I had a look at the grave yard and there are two Wagons and one Utility and guess what I found on the yellow car, nothing on the other two..... I was able to remove both with only slight damage around one screw due to corrosion.

nice examples - they've aged well (apparently at the car's expense, a la sacrificial anode) I note one more variation on panel van windows ... re your new avatar - is that what your " ...old blue 203 stripped and all the rust removed requiring a full paint job including underneath ... " looked like?

yes that's my old blue 203 I restored for my first car when I was 16...... had it on the road for many years, many engine variations until the final one I built had the 1600 pistons and a lot of other work done to it. Was an absolute blast to drive until a cracked piston led me to pulling the motor which was the start of the rebirth of the car. New floors are in, all the other known rust areas are replaced but now need to find a suitable panel shop.
