    Default Stinky 306 1.8 16v

Hi all, MY CAR STINKS!!!. Over the past couple weeks my car has been making that bad sulphur smell, espescially on part throtle (cruising or slowing down) Ive had three new tanks of fuel, and I always use premium. Whats going on? The car gets serviced every 5-10 thou. klms aswell. I cant notice any performance loss, infact it's running smoother since its last service than ever before (idle used to lumpy, now its smoooooth) But almost every drive at some point an overwhelming stench eminates from the car (not me, before anyone makes jokes!) Does that indicate a dying cat converter or what??
    Thanks

It's out of tuned itself. Whether it's plugs, or an oxy sensor is hard to tell. Thrash the shit out of it and see it that fixes it.

Can I use that as an excuse to the police..."I was just fixing my car, honest!"

If you get caught, Rev-tuning, just tell 'em that a car salesman (me) said it was ok.

I've had my nuts broken while doing road side tunes... the cop that pulled over to talk 2 me was a petrol head so luckinly he was on for a chat. He'd hotted up an VT engined injected twin turbo v8 VL. As reggie would say... "He's got issues"

Ours did for years, from new. Not so bad now. Perth fuel maybe? My Xantia does it intermittently too. Nothing wrong with tuning or mechanical condition for either car.

I've always put it down to sulphur in the fuel. The smell we get is hydrogen sulphide, which the nose is very sensitive to. It doesn't take much at all.

I have always heard it, and referred to it, as an "Italian tune-up" (in reference to how you should drive Italian cars )
