Default Upping my Stereo setup in the 205?? Help needed!

    Riiiiiight.

At the moment, I have a sony cd player, sony round speakers (maybe 5") in the door with tweeters an inch or two away from them. Also, I have an Alpine 4x50watt amplifier under the passenger seat, which only uses 2 channels (i think) to run the front speakers. So what are my options? I really would only want to spend say $200 max, but I just want it to sound a bit more solid - I mean, it sounds worse than the stock system in the volvo did!

    Any car audio gurus here?

I'm no audio expert but from what i hear the 205 rattles like a mutha. My advice is to go get the car sound deadened. That way the speakers you do have will sound a lot clearer & louder.

For $200 this is the best thing you could do in my opinion.

good advice.. Go to Jaycar and by some deadening and glue it to the insides of the outer panels.

In my 205 Si, I cut out the ash trays in the back, put 6 inch speakers in it's place. I then put deadening in the cavity behind.

The original plan was to make it a six speaker set up, but then I realised that the stereo as it is adequate and I don't care to spend so much time and money on it.

Be sure that your alternator and wiring will be able to support any extra equipment. Too much and you might need a better battery or a beefy capacitor.

Umm, the car already has a pretty hefty battery and fancy gold cabling (maybe a 1/2 inch thick) with all these trick little clear cover things (fancy little terminal thingos inside) with special gold clips on the battery. I think he used to run two 15" subs in it before I bought it. I think its all right to handle it. At the moment, I'm thinking that I'll put 6x9s in the parcel shelf. The cables are already there for them, and I don't have to start pulling doors apart which given my cars age - will never clip back together properly.

I might snap some pics of the wiring, from what I'm told its like the most expensive stuff for audio? Lots of gold coloured stuff is all i know

No idea what type of speakers I'd get - not really too fussed as I'm not a car audio buff. Are the "Response" speakers terrible? Cheap as chips they are!

Asanka - will be there with bells on mate, looking forward to meeting some froggers.

not bad.. bass is on the crisp side. I'm very much against installing speakers into the parcel shelf because it just points the sound into the glass of the tailgate. The downside of my setup though is that sound tends to superposition itself.

I should add more deadening, connect up better speakers in the original rear speaker cavities, put splits up front, and get an amp. Thing is I don't care that much.

If i had 200 to spend i would buy those response speakers cause your not going into comps and getting all serious and secone i would put the on the parcel shelf but make sure the its in good nick and it seels well. It made nice bass from my mate car and then if you sound deaden the boot where the plastic cover is in the actual tailgate and the floor of the boot it will sound just right(did it to my old m8s 205. sounded nice a bassi)
