    Default 407 Tailgate struts

Hi all, my 2005 tailgate struts are a bit tired, not surprising given age and kms. I have been looking at UK suppliers, @ about AUD 44 for what appear to be 'well made' new ones, plus freight. Is it worth the trouble/freight, verses purchased in Aust. and if so from whom.

    Comments would be appreciated.

G'day, I had the struts on my 407 wagon changed during its service last week; $60 fitted from what I remember I will ask my mechanic for details on supplier (I think they were sourced through a supplier in Melbourne???) and post tomorrow or day after.

    Hi,
I bought a pair from China on eBay for $23.00 in June this year. They are working OK. Very easy to fit.

Thanks Flash, I shall await your reply, in the mean time I have sent off an enquiry to European Auto Parts in Box Hill (a suburb of Melb.) to see what they might be able offer.

Thanks davidtl, I'm always wary of Chinese products, but plenty are quite OK.

    WAOFFROG,

Sorry I havent got back to you (amazing how a bit of a heart attack and the odd aftershock slows you down).

The struts came from European Auto Imports in Melbourne but they do have an outlet in Sydney too I'm told.

Give them a buzz or an email (Google them) and see what they can do for you. Mine are working fine after a couple of weeks work.

I got some for my daughter's Jeep from Stuts R Us in Melbourne, found them on ebay, fitted perfectly, worked perfectly, cost about $35- $40 for the pair, next day delivery. Couple of years ago.

I got a pair from European Auto Imports for my 407. I think they were about $40 each.
