Default 206 2002 Auto trans gear shift knob....

    Hello

We have a 206 automatic and the gear lever knob has had all the black coating crack and fall off. I have run several wreckers with no luck.

Has anyone had any luck with replacing it with a generic knob? Some say these don't fit and you need a white/black plastic thing on the gear shaft to make it sit on. My shaft doesn't have one of these and the ones advertised on Ebay etc say this piece of plastic is called a "sleeve adapter" Shift Gear Knob Stick Sleeve Adapter Lever For Peugeot 106 206 307 Citroen C2 C4 | eBay

It also says this adapter is for a manual gear stick.... yet the photo for the replacement "auto" knob says your gear shaft needs one of these things on it Automatic AUTO Gear Shift Knob Shifter For Peugeot 206 207 307 408 Citroen C2 | eBay

Please, please any suggestions or advice would be wonderful. Thanks

Welcome to AF. Have you tried our regular contributor, Dave at French Connection in Melbourne?

Hello SeaSink! Thanks for the tip.... I have tried the ones in Adelaide and a few interstate but will give Dave a tingle... I rang Peugeot Aust and it is not looking hopeful that even a new one is available so I am getting frantic...!

Nope no dice. Surely someone has had to replace an auto knob before?

I don't know about anyone else but I'm confused. Your second link seems like the go.
