    Default 306 clutch cable.

Had an issue today with the clutch cable in the 306 banana. Initially it felt like the cable broke as pedal slammed to the floor head was ploughed into the head rest. So upon inspection (38 deg day) the plastic bung that holds one end of the cable to the firewall must have gone soft from the heat and pulled straight through the firewall.

Anyone had this issue and maybe a fix (apart from a new cable) ?

I will try to massage a slotted steel washer but maybe someone else has a better idea.

yikes!! That plastic bit is pretty hefty, Have you lost the heat shield off the manifold? I'm trying to remember exactly what the plastic bung looks like, I think from memory it has a skirt around it which is what buts against the hole in the firewall... struggling to think how you could attach something to it that would stop it from pulling through, perhaps some pins through the outer edges? from memory it is probably around 2cm in diameter with the cable in the middle...

Hi Tony, yep you got it in one! The "bung" is fed up under the brake booster and butt up to the firewall. I should be able to make something up to replace it but it's such an inaccessible area.

Ah that's right. It is in a pig of a place. Not easy to get to at all. Horrible job replacing it. I think I had blocked that memory out!
