    Default 205 GTI service items

Hello All, finally after 28 years I have managed to purchase a 1987 1.9 model. Really looking for advice on my first oil change. I have read that Purflux filters are recommended, however I live in a regional town and can source but wondering in absolutely necessary? Also best oil for the change?
    Any help greatly appreciated.

Hey mate, congrats on the purchase.

Not sure about filter, I usually just order the Peugeot (or equivalent OEM) item. Can't remember the brand sorry - it's blue if that helps! Being remote, could you order one on eBay (or from a dealer) and get it delivered?

Re oil, I'm sure there will be many different opinions, but I've always run Castrol Magnatec 10w40 in mine.

Back in the day I owned a 1.6 in the U.K., and loved it. I have only had her for a month but has put a large smile on my face!

Purflux is indeed the go, and often costs less. For servicing bits have a word to EAI: European Auto Imports at Thornleigh (Sydney) 02 9481 8400. A courier will have it to your door soon after.

    Mbo,
    Purflux for sure.
Slightly OT. The alternative Ryco filter for my 504 costs twice as much as the Purflux! Have you got the correct sump plug tool?
Dave Cavanagh had them cheap at French Connection.

Use a large shifter / ring spanner preferable on the outside and get yourself a new one, local is fine they will get it out. This is normal on allow sumps, pugs are most like this.

Yeah, the drive is an 8mm square. Easiest option to grind down a 3/8 socket drive. You can find the right socket though if you look around.
