Default peugeot 505 rear wheel bearing

    Hello
one of the rear hubs gets in and out of the bearing holder quite easily by hand, unlike the other one, and after tightening the driveshaft nut to 280nM there's a big freeplay of the wheel. i tried another hub and it's the same.
    is that a worn bearing?

Something is missing there, isn't it?

Well, the missing part was found stuck on the hub.
Does it mean the bearing is finished?

Possibly not. It's been a few years since I did one of these, but I seem to remember the same thing happening to me..

Just put it together correctly and see how much play there is. Should be zero.

    Hi
Leaving that of will certainly cause the problem you had, the bearing sets that I've used have come with new bearing collars, the old ones are not easy to get off, I took mine to an engineering place with a big press and all the right equipment.
    Regards
    Neil
