Default Peugeot 405 key codes. Help please!

I need help to work out the key code on my S1 Mi16 to have new blanks cut. Unfortunately i lost it (don't ask) and I have no spare key to match to.

Supplying the VIN to Peugeot I was given the official key code for "my car" but the combination of letters and numbers I received make no sense to locksmiths - even Regan Motors personal locksmith - yet Peugeot assure my my code is correct for my car. Being an S1 405 this key has no chip.

Obviously I can't type the code here for security reasons but has anyone else experienced this headache before and can you give me some guidance? What should the code be like and which letters/numbers do i need to quote? Some locksmiths suggest the first 6 and others the last 6 etc.

    Much appreciated in advance!

    Hey mate
I had to do this for my Mi back in the day.

Carefully remove the light surround in the front where the receiver for the key transponder is. Under the smoked black receiver housing should be a code (it is on a sticker, for memory). That's the code you need to order it.

Mine took 4 weeks to come from France - however that was 20 years ago, and Australia Post lost the small parcel in one of their trucks for nearly 2 weeks.

    Hope this helps
    Ben

    Hi Frogeater

We seem to be talking about 2 issues here. Remote control function and blade cutting code.
If you order a new remote key complete with code off the interior remote receiver (near interior mirror as mentioned) you should get a complete key programmed ready to lock/unlock with the button but still have to get the blank blade cut. (the original blade code may come supplied with the unit? Can't remember.
However with the age of the vehicle it could easily have had a new door barrel?
If the original key still fits every thing and you want to just cut blanks remove the Drivers door lock barrel and get the blade code off that. Better still take that to the lock smith as well
