    Default Breakdown in Bowen help

Just broke down in Bowen😨 with my 307 SW 2006.
I stopped at roadside to look at GPS and turned of the motor.
When I tried to start it made a rumble and shake. Tried second time but same thing so I did not try third time to avoid further problems.
Sounds pretty serious and timing belt was due. Did it break down? Car has done 161 000km and timing belt has been replaced once according to Peugeot service in Gold Coast?
Do you know any mechanics here I can take it tomorrow.
Anyone needing parts if it is too expensive to repair?

I can not get the window up as it is on economy mode. Would jump starter on battery give enough voltage to lift the window? I sleep in my car but it may rain tonight?

Shut off completely, wait and try again. Battery in parallel will certainly help.

You haven't just killed the battery and the noise was the engine trying to crank?

It seems odd that the window wouldn't go up?

    New battery since last year.
Oil was low and car was tilted 30 degrees so that could have caused issues.
I managed to start the engine and close the window.
Going to fill the oil tomorrow morning and see if she runs?

    Good morning.
I checked the oil level first thing this morning.
It was 2/3 between the notches.
So I started the car and it ran OK.
But the warning triagle came up and oil light flashing few seconds on the dash.
Check oil level warning came up too on the multifunction display.
Check the oil level again on the stick. Now showing half full. Would go back to 2/3 if I let it stand a while I think.
So I wonder if the oil pump or oil sensor is failing?
I bought 2 liters Caltex Havoline 5W 40 but might return the other as it might be not needed.
Then on the road again towards Townsville. 👍

I also disconnected the positive battery terminal to reset the computer but oil warnings appear.

Update. Next day no sign of that trouble. Car runs fine again and on start it says OIL OK. Weird.

Oil level low because car tilted at 30 degrees? System then won't start car as safety measure for engine? Hope all's well!

Yes that was a random fault and luckily it disappeared. The car has been running fine since apart from auto transmission judder when first started in cold. Have to run the engine on neutral for 5 minutes before driving away?

I had the same sort of thing with error messages when a cable to the rear of the DPF dragged and broke on one of my 307s. I soldered it all back together and after starting the car 5 times all the error messages disappeared.

Having the car at 30 degrees is likely the original problem as JohnW suggested.

Once level, and the oil filled properly, you can continue to get fault messages until you have cycled the ignition 5 times. After that the computer will check the oil level sensor and reset if its OK.

    Cheers
