When cornering my s16 (well lets be honest) when I'm cornering my s16 hard there is a rattling/shudder noise coming from underneath the car, does anyone have any ideas?

I think you might be right Pugrambo, because the noise is coming basically from where there reasonator is...would there be a reason why it only happens when I corner hard?

to be honest i couldn't tell you but there is something to do with the mounting of the exhaust that makes it actually hit the car as well when cornering hard

mine has been doing it for a long time (actually a sore point between myself and a dealer) so i have grown used to it but i will one day get the resonator replaced with a non pug one (as they are aussie parts anyway)

if you let it go the rattle will start appearing at idle and at around 3000rpm

    Hmmm..

I have a rattle in my 205 that comes on at about 3000rpm (till about 4.5k), but only when the car has warmed up a bit, and is fully operational. It seems to be load sensitive too. The sound comes on from small load, but doesnt get louder with extra load.

The exhaust was recently replaced from the cat back with a standard exhaust (nice job by the looks of it) due to "wear and tear", but the rattle appeared afterwards.

At first i thought it was the cat tapping the heat shields, and after finding a mark from where it had hit, i checked for contact using chalk. Unfortunately the chalk didnt get displaced or transfer to the exhaust, and the rattle remained. The exhaust is properly restrained, with all of the mounts being in good condition.

The sound really seems to be the exhaust though.

I have a bike like thats, the baffle inside one of the exhausts has come loose, and rattles, but when it warms up it sticks...

my car also blew a cat, and a peice of the stuff inside came loose and went down the exhaust, and made an awfull rattle...

just tap your mufflers and cat with a spanner or something and see if you can hear anything rattling inside em.. when they took my cat off they emptied it out and all this powery rusty material came out...

    cheers

I've also found my car doesnt like starting hot sometimes, it'll tick over a bit too long, or take a couple of goes.

I guess this could be the cat's fault.

Looks like i'll have to take the car into an exhaust shop and get it checked out. Bugger!
