Default Gti Gauges In An Si.

Thanks to Warus, I now have a neat gti dash for my si. I just need to get it working right!
So far the lights, speedo, fuel and water temp work, and the oil pressure, oil temp and tach don't.
The only one that has me puzzled is the tach, there is an extra contact in the socket under the back of the gti dash which I assume has something to do with it but I haven't fiddled with it yet.
There's what looks like an oil temp sender on the sump that needs to plug in somewhere, and I'm crossing my fingers at the moment regarding a pressure sender.

What do the smarter than me people have to say on the subject?

The Si (veliga) tach gets a digital signal from the ecu, whereas the gti (jager) uses an analogue signal from the ignition amp. I would just swap out the gti tach assembly for the si's. I can't remember if Si's have an oil pressure sender or just an oil pressure light switch, but chances are high it won't so you will need to find the sender and fit. Then you will need to wire in the missing wires from the senders to the dash loom as they are not present in the Si.

    Thanks for that.
I thought maybe something like that with the tach. Do all gti's use the analogue signal or just early ones?
The tach on the gti dash I have sez veglia if that matters.
The oil pressure light comes on with the ignition, (and goes out on start up), but the gauge has no signal.
And if I stick a meter on what I think is the temp sender on the sump, should the resistance go up or down with a rise in temp?

    *I'll post some pics later...

I like the way the si plug is the same colour as the gti socket. it's a mystery!

Well that was easier than expected.

The tach swapped over without a prob. Now onto the oil pressure/temp gauges.
