Default peugeot 505 shiny bits - roof gutters and windscreen mylar

just wondering how other 505 owners have dealt with old looking shiny metal bits. in particular the metal strips running along the roof gutters, as well as the mylar inserts around the windscreen and back window.
mine are looking a little rough so I would like to replace them.
are they easy to source? is it expensive to replace?
would be interested to here what other 505 owners have done. your help/suggestions/advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    JB

The plastic chrome bits are almost impossible to obtain new now.
On my Executive the previous owner had narrow chrome finish strips fitted which looked a lot like the original gutter strips from a distance. Given the 7/8 years I've had the car now and it being outside in the weather, it's only now that they're starting to show their age.

As Gerry said, they are pretty much impossible to get, by the way, all the strips you are referring too are originally Mylar

While I no longer have a 505 when I did I often wondered if the stainless trim from a 504 or a renault 12 could be gently bent to fit. Many 505's have had the gutter strips removed especially if repainted. The difference is hardly noticable.

yes, I was wondering if something like that might be an option. especially due to the fact it sounds like it will be impossible to source original replacements. as long as it looks alright when finished. don't want it to look like a cheap fix. If it does look rubish than I suppose I could leave it with nothing on there, as it sounds like a lot of 505's end up like that.

I'll post before and after photos when I eventually get it fixed up.

Most of the time the side gutters do not need repainting as there has normally been no sun or physical.I have removed and it is always refreshing to see a nice shiny surface appear after the ghastly sight if a traumatized piece of mould.

Remember these have suffered the sun for 6 or 8 years and are due for replacement. One of the many things to do to get this car back on the road.peugeot 505 shiny bits - roof gutters and windscreen mylar-imageuploadedbyaussiefrogs1454404094.571438.jpg
