Default 207 cc roof noise at front over bumps

    Hi.

New user here, roped into being dad mechanic for my daughter's 207 cc recently purchased.

The closed roof is quiet during normal driving, but when the car turns over a kerb or decent bump there is sometimes a loud clunk that seems to come from the general area above the driver's head.

The original owner installed some type of shrink wrap on the pins, but that seems to have little effect and the wrap was pushed back on the right pin. The right pin is a tight fit in the hole, while the left pin has more room and activates a switch when in place.

I'm guessing the clunking noise is the result of the right pin moving under body flex, but that's just a guess. The noise only happens on a bump, not during normal driving.

    Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

    Solved my own problem. Bonus.

Update, for anyone experiencing similar noises -

    Remove headlining.
    Retract roof partially.
Loosen the 3 torx bolts holding the roof latch to the roof panel.
Re-position the latch. In my case, it was moved toward the outside of the car and slightly to the rear.
Tighten the torx bolts. Test drive. Enjoy.

If the latch is in the incorrect position the roof cycle may not complete. A bit of trial and error is involved, but not much.
