Default 206 GTI Power Steering Pump Bearing

    Hey Guys,

I've got a squeeling power steering pump, atleast thats what i've pin pointed it to. Starts as soon as the cars started and gets louder with revs, i've done the old screw driver to the ear trick and it seems to be coming from that.

I've eliminated the water pump etc as i took the accessory belt off started the car and there wasnt a noise.

Can you replace the bearings in this or is it a throw away? The noise doesnt go away and although i'm less worried about it now, it is noisy and as i'm using this on a rally circuit its not something i want to fail half way through a corner etc. I've got a clip of it i'll upload it so you can hear it.

    Any tips?

    Cheers Josh

It won't be bearing noise, it will be gear whine. Once it starts it's irreversible. You will have to change the pump.

Noise starts afew seconds after the car starts. Was pin pointing it towards either the power steering pump or the alternator.
