Does anyone know anything about this car?
Only what the advert tells me!

Red ones may have clearcoat issues, also budget for a tranny rebuild or manual conversion.

Note well, pre-multiplex cars can have the mileage reduced by a simple dash cluster swap.

There's plenty of second hand dash clusters around. Perfectly good cars with expired transmissions...

If the seats could talk........Would not the detailed log service history match up and verify the kilometers traveled?

If the seats could talk, surely their first words would be a question: "Who f*rted?"

When I had a repaired write off inspected, the RTA prised off the passenger airbag cover to see what was in there. (This broke $22 worth of special clips...)

The peeling/lifting passenger airbag cover is a common "feature" of the 406, from memory.

I trust you noticed it has cracked front and rear bumpers, scrapes along the passenger side and a ding in the front right wheelarch? Must have been in at least a minor pile-up.

Is the vendor a middle eastern immigrant?
    If so be very careful.

Has a blue slip and 3 months rego so has definitely passed RWC. This seller has been around for a while and has a 100% feed back. Looks alright but you need to check it over.

Two to three weeks ago there was a 1998 Dark Grey Coupe for sale at Monkey Motors, Yagoona for $2,500. (Don't know if it is still there). Around 140,000km ?, 6 months rego, log books to 90,000 km. Front bumper had a small piece missing/cracked. Fresh indentation on the roof (similar to a small rock hitting it- pop out?), otherwise exterior was very good for its age. Tyres serviceable. Interior very good, driver's bolster worn but not torn, small stitching has come loose, dash unmarked, all electrics that I tried (including seats) worked.

Motor started straight away with no unusual noises, oil/water looked clean. Moved into drive/reverse smoothly with no jerking/clunking. Didn't take it for a drive. A/c felt like it might need a re gas, boot struts needed re gassing and seriously needed a detail and clean.

The coupes have come down in price in the last 12 months. I decided to keep the Mi16.

Mate that looks nice. I'm looking for a manual myself. I've seen one of these with some nice rims and artwork. Looks sweet.
....now watch a Peugeot turn into a corner!

The bumpers on these are brittle but are repairable.
The D8's had the airbag covers on the passenger side, and there's a forum in the UK which gives info on how to attach these cheaply.

    406 Coupe Owners Club

Visit the forum or search and there are plenty of entries from best detailing products, mods, standard fixes and OEM parts and supplies.

They're a great car to own. I've had mine 11 or so years and the only issue was the auto reconditioned and a new BSI.
