Default Earthing issue - 505 Diesel

    Morning All,

I've got a strange problem with the electrics on my Diesel 505 which I am assuming is linked to an earthing problem. When you brake, turn the indicators on or use the electric windows the temp gauge and fuel gauge needles fluctuate. I assume it's an earthing issue and have confirmed a good earth from the battery and cleaned up all the earth points I can find.

It's a weird issue and I am wondering if anyone else has had similar problems?

Also, I have connected the tacho up via the sensor looking at the flywheel and it still isn't working, am I missing something?

    Anyway, thanks in advance.

Try the trailer plug at the back for a short.

Good spot! I was thinking tail light clusters, else an alternator issue. This latter possibility could be addressed by temporarily blinding off the alternator terminals and running only on a charged battery.

Thanks Bobby, I'll head in that direction.

Thanks Adam, onto second alternator with same faults and different engine bay wiring loom so confident all OK there.

    Cheers
