    Default 504 Minimum head thickness

    Hi all,
Can anyone tell me the minimum allowable thickness of a 504 alloy cylinder head. Mine has been machined a few times and I'm not sure I can have it done again. It's a Ti head, so replacement is difficult considering their rarity. Thanks in advance.

    Touch,
The figure of 91mm is scribbled on my tool board. In my case it would be for carb 504.

    Factory Manual indicates 92mm, +/- 0.15
Stock being 92.5mm, and max. out of true 0.05mm

Couldn't find anything to indicate a difference between for the injected head.

Perhaps your figure is less conservative but real-world tested 'Beest?

I also found those figures in the Factory Manual. I thought I could remember 91mm being quoted in other posts but couldn't find that in the good book.

You can easily skim it down to 90.5 mm. Even if you have to go lower than that (perhaps to re-true after a blown head gasket), you can always compensate by using a 2 mm copper head gasket.

And a liberal application of Hylomar to both sides !

Yep I use Hylomar. But don't put synthetic/waterless coolant in it. It will get out every time.
