    Icon5 307 1.6 manual transmission codes/Vin#

    While trying to source a replacement gearbox for my 2002 307, I have been repeatedly asked the last eight digits of VIN. Can somebody explain to me which, and how, these numbers relate ? oh and at this stage no luck with finding one from a 2002..Have come across one from a 2003 but not knowing if this will fit doesnt help...Thanks in advance DT

    The last eight characters of your VIN allow factory based software to determine exact details of your vehicle as built, down to one-off specifications or regional differences.

    Also, when changes are incorporated during a model's production life, it will determine where your particular vehicle falls within those parameters.

    The interpretation of the whole 307 VIN is at peugeot engine vin codes and Peugeot VIN numbers. As addo has said the final numbers describe your exact car so that changes at different dates can be accounted for.

    Thanks. That has assisted in understanding Vin# When using the link from seasink I interpretted the first number in serial number as 2008..My Vin# is VF33CNFUB82391624 however my compliance plate says manufactured in Mar 2002. Vin on winscreen matches compliance plate and rego papers. Where have i gone wrong ? will it cause any issues when ordering parts?

    VF3 = made by Peugeot in France
    3 = Peugeot 307
    C = 5 door body
    NFU = TU5JP4 engine (1587 cc)
    B = MA 5 speed gearbox, BOSCH ME7.4.4

    Date isn't mentioned. It can be determined from the serial number.

    09257 is the Pug equal of the ORGA number. It yields 14th March, 2002 as the date on which the car was encoded into the production line records, not when it was delivered/sold.
