Default Is there any benefit in forced air intake for a non intercooled turbo diesel?

Hi. I have a Peugeot 307 xs hdi 2.0 diesel 66kw version. Currently the air intake inlet is located directly behind the left hand bumper bar where there is little or no direct air entry. Is there any benefit ie, performance gain from rerouting the air intake to behind the open grill thus making it into a forced air entry system. Any thoughts would be welcome.
    Cheers

I have tried differing amounts of resistance on the intake of the intercooled DW10ATED (8 valve), no difference in performance was noticeable.

Surely the turbo is what provides forced air to the engine.
I would think extra air input to the turbo would make relatively little difference, tapering to none at all once it cranks up to maximum boost.

    Or am I misunderstanding something?

As I don't have an intercooler would a cold air intake then give cooler air to the turbo?

I should have stated that by forced air I meant forcing the air in thus making it cooler as I do not have an intercooler to do it for me. My error.
