    Icon5 504 auto driveshaft removal

I've removed the engine on my 504 but the auto gearbox has the driveshaft still stuck in it and I can't seem to pull it out to allow the gearbox to be removed. Would have thought that it would just have splines on the end and slide out easily but it doesn't seem to budge. Is there a trick to doing this? Gearbox is free and moved forwards, torque tube has been unbolted from rear diff and moved forwards but rear subframe prevents it being lowered.
    Thanks in advance.

    Default 504 auto driveshaft removal

I used to separate the gearbox from the torque tube by using a pair of multi grips clamped over the shaft and then gripping the multi Grips tight and levering the gearbox away with a large screwdriver or tyre lever.
Sometimes takes a bit of work to get it started. You will need to support the tranny so there is no strain on the torque tube, though

    Me too.

If it's REALLY stuck, step back and look. One of those units will be hanging down and mis-aligning the 2 things you want to separate.

Thanks for that, it must have been the alignment because after a play around it came out rather easily!
