Default 207 GTi Turbo not boosting

    Hi all,

I have an 07/08 207 GTi which I am currently not getting any boost. I have had intermittent issues in the past where the boost would stop after about 20-25mins of higher speed driving and not come back until the car was stopped and later started.
Today so far, after a rest period of a few hours, the turbo is still not boosting and there are NO trouble codes.

I recently had some over-boosting occurring at higher revs, but then I had the timing chain replaced and this seemed to go away, so I initially thought maybe it could have had something to do with the timing being too far out.

Now im thinking, is it possible that I could just have 'sticky turbo vanes' ? and this time they are not coming unstuck?
Im a little stumped with no stored or current codes in the ecu.

    steve

How many k's on it, and have you checked the diverter valve ?

    Mine was rooted at 100,000ks.

The diverter valve is what I would suspect. There's a long thread on it here.

The diverter valve is on the front and very easy to check with allen/hex head tools. It's got a flimsy black plastic diaphragm that can look fine but is not very healthy.

The boost control valve on the back of the motor is very difficult to check and could also be the issue.

The turbo does not have variable vanes on the GT or GTi.
    Regards,

    Simon

Thankyou, i took it off tonight and as far as i can tell it is all in tact from my comparisons to forum pictures.... so maybe it is giving the illusion of being ok but as you say 'not healthy'.
I dont know were i got that these cars have variable vane turbos.... so that kills the sticky vane idea...
