    Default Timing belt intervals.

The owners handbook says to change the cam belt every 80,000 Km. I haven't found a time limit, just the distance mentioned.

Ours was was replaced 70,000 KM & 9 years ago. Time to replace on time alone? Or leave to 80,000.
I'm inclined to get it replaced, ( because I worry about such things)

    Thanks for all replies.

If they are only giving you 80K then wait until then, usually it's 100K so yours is conservative anyway

I, too, was under the impression that a time limit is stipulated for timing belt changes, and 9 years sounds like a mighty long time.

I'd change it regardless. Better than it suddenly letting go and causing damage.

If the last was done 9 years ago I would probably get it replaced.

4 Years / 80000km is the usual interval for timing belt changes on Pugs.

Yes, I would change it as most manufacturers state 4 years if I recall right.

Some, like Renault give 100,000km, Peugeot/Citroen the 80,000km.

I do my Scenic every 4 years or close to as the damage is well above 3 times the cost of a belt replacement if it does go.

Thank you all for your advice. I'll get it done. After I sort the started motor out.

4 years / 80,000klm for the petrol motors, and don't forget the water pump and belt idler and tensioner pulleys together with seals if required. Usually the alternator belt, idler and tension pulleys are stuffed as well!
Do a proper job to avoid later dramas down the track
