Default 2004 307 diesel wagon spare wheel carrier

Hi I have a 307 wagon where I had to remove the spare wheel from under the car with a grinder because it was stuck. Some clever mechanic had decided (prior to me owning it) to lift up the wheel with a ratchet gun and destroyed the winch mechanism, unfortunately as we all know it the winch is next to useless anyway. My question is has anybody with a wagon ever made a hinged drop down basket as in the Renault wagon? as their is space under the car that would fit it.

Common fault - that winch is junk, regardless of clever mechanics! I don't carry a spare anymore as I can't find a working mech. Peugeot stupidity is to blame for this one...

I agree Roland, I've looked into the 405 system it is very simple and not too hard to get the basket either

Thanks for that info, unfortunately to remove my spare wheel I had to destroy the mechanism, (unfortunately with an angle grinder) that holds up the wheel so i am unable to repair it. Cheers
