    Default 505 timing belt

I just picked up a 505 from Melbourne and began the long trek back to Stewarts Brook.

But I broke the timing belt at Bombala.

Is there anyone round there who could sell me a timing belt please?

Or any ideas how I could get one quickly round here, currently at Rocky Hall.

    cheers,
    Dan

Most likely will have bent valves too, can't see just a belt getting you going again.

Are you sure about that, Pug_405_Mi16 ??? Or are you just saying that because you've heard it with other cars ??

As it has a belt rather than a chain, I guess it's a series 2. But which type ? GTI, diesel ?

As to whether the valves will be bent, depends on whether it's an "interference" or "non-interference" engine....

    Luthier....which type is it ?

Addo's advice is probably best....Canberra club will have an after-hours number.

It's a belt timed car so therefore a ZDJ 2.2, the only 505's we got in Australia with a timing belt were ZDJ engined cars.

Series 1 or 2 is irrelevant and yes I've had 3 bent valves when a belt went on a GTI wagon I owned.

So, hope that clears up my previous comments.......

    In Rocky Hall?

I'm wondering how any body going from anywhere to anywhere else found himself in Rocky Hall.
