    Default 205GTI - Australian Compliance

    Hi all

I have a japan-delivered 205GTI that I am considering exporting back to Australia. I understand that I may need to have retractable rear seat belts installed and side-protection bars installed in the doors (amongst other things) to be Australian compliant. Can anyone do me a big favour and post (or pm me) any pics of how the rear seat belts are mounted in the rear hatch section and the side-protection bars fitted behind the door covers? Searched the net but can't locate the details.

    Thanks in advance

My car is still a stripped shell at the moment so I can take a couple of photos for you over the weekend.

It may be hard to get a good shot of the side impact bars as they sit inside the double skin section of the door where it is not easy to see them.

You'll definitely need side intrusion bars, unless you forget to mention it and they don't find out. It might be easier to find a pair of local doors.

    Default Side intrusion bar photos

Here's some photos of the side intrusion bar in the driver's side door of my s3 GTi.

I have no idea how you'd weld in there. Tend to agree with Peter that it might be easier to find a $500 Si and steal the doors off that.

Thanks all, much appreciated. Agree the replacement door option may be the way to go if I import the vehicle back to Australia.

Here's a few pics of the car, she is a 1990 1.9 cat model with 55,000kms. All original paintwork.

Very sharp. I've got a pair of white doors if you're interested.
