If anyone can put the time in, the sponsors of the car were: Donaghey and Riches, Builders of Yarrawonga, Vic. and Alcock, Thomson and Taylor Pty Ltd of 203 (?) Darling Rd, East Malvern, Vic. Billiard table manufacturers.

The car in the wrecking yard has a sun-roof. The Tubman car doesn't.

I think they are different year cars.

The number 48 has just been stuck on in honour of the 53 win.
None of the 2003 rerun cars had any connection with the original winner.
A club rally car probably from the 1970s, although I must say that I've never seen it even though I have been around Peugeots and rallying since 1969. Could be a fully imported car with those bumpers, although my ex Tasmania Allan Robertson car also has these bumpers. John Anderson from Cobram in the Yarrawonga area ran 203s in the 1995 and 1998 Round Australias but they were both Cs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, doesn't the small flat-ish back windscreen make it an a very early 203A. As opposed to the yellow one next to it, with a more rounded and bent screen.

203As all had the big back window and the later C style body.
Differences were that they had the early front suspension and transmission progressively replaced by the later stuff as it became available.
They also had a single tail light.
The early cars with small back window were simply referred to as 203s.

Thanks for the info on early models Russel and Graham.

    Brings back fond memories.
You would never get away with it today, but mum and dad use to sit up front, myself and my three older brothers on the back seat and safely packed away on the parcel shelf (there was a lowered shelf between the back seat and windscreen) is were my brother would lie and sleep. I just shudder now... that was some 50 years ago.
