    Default 307 intermittent stopping

My daughter has a 307 2006 Diesel. While drive it frequently stops, the engine just dies after pulling over and waiting 5 to 10 minutes it will often restart. But is very dangerous in heavy traffic. Has anyone experienced a similar problem and is there a solution. BillS

I'm curious; my neighbour had this problem for several years.

Mrs Whippet has the same vehicle and it does this on a semi regular occasion, exactly as described above. I had a borrowed Lexia on the vehicle recently, there were no error codes in the ECU memory.

I have not been able to progress from this point.

The previous 306/406 HDi models had a common failure of the low pressure pump in the fuel tank failing. First signs are occasional momentary loss of power, progressing to occasional engine cut outs, then finally failure to start reliably.

All the issues I have seen them in (4 times) is the inductor ring behind the crank pulley for engine speed sensor. Watch the tachometer when it happens - does it suddenly drop out and fall to 0rpm much much quicker than usual?

Won't be 306/406 as 2006 hdi doesn't have a fuel pump in the tank...
