    Default 505 Help

Drivers side strut has sprung a leak on my 84 505 SRDT. Want to sell it but need to fix the strut, can a non diesel strut be put into a diesel? The struts were replaced about 6 years ago with Lip brand ones but one failed about 3 years ago. They appear to be poor quality but am reluctant to replace with the same brand. I have an idea that the diesel strut inserts are a different size upper bolt compared to the petrol ones but would love to use standard ones. 'In the old days' Allanqant made top quality struts but these were not available when they were replaced. Second hand struts would be great to get me out of trouble but they are probably as rare as a good SRDT is.
    Any suggestions?

Hi, geedee, try calling Pugwreck in Melbourne, 0397207521, if they don't have the strut, they can put you on the right track. They know their stuff.

Am showing interest but will need to know the size of the thread at the top of the insert as well as the part number if that is possible. A brand name if known. PM me with possible cost including postage. My 505 is a series one.

I had a look at the box, it's Lipp, by the way. It says Peugeot 505 Series 2, so I guess it won't be suitable!!

I've generally found Lipp brand a good quality shock absorber, and rarely giving trouble. Generally they are preferred above other brands
