These cars are fine IF they are looked after properly by people who have a clue what they are doing.

Guess the trick is knowing how to sort the wheat from the chaff; unfortunately females seem to be regarded as easy marks by shonks.!

Honestly, this is the same motor as in Minis and some smaller Furds. The turbo/oil issue has been well known for more than five years and perfectly successful fixes are on the approved list by all marques using these engines. That apparently doesn't make dealers diligent, nor consumers informed...

Any dealer mechanic with some form of care factor and who knows their way around dealer service box (unfortunately the subscription service doesn't give you access to ALL the info) will be able to solve most issues. The mechanics who are prepared to go that extra mile and use their head, experience and common sense will be able to fix all other issues. Failing that bring it to me. I'll fix it

I've got a car from your area. Has yours been serviced by Classic Autos or whatever they're called?

Can't say that makes me sad to hear. Can you get a recommendation from James504 about anyone competent and close for looking after the car?

My 308...one of the first produced, has been faultless. 146,000Klm and goes a treat.

Now, having bragged about how good it has been so far......

Hey Decca do you still get yours serviced at Melrose? I bought a second hand 207GTi through pickles cheap because it had a few problems. Took it to them and they had nfi and were quoting thousands upon thousands to diagnose and repair with no guarantees. This despite the fact i'd done some research and knew exactly what I wanted done. Eventually I found an independent here, I supply the parts, he does the work at a reasonable price and being an expat from the UK he knows his stuff.

Only went to Melrose when car was in warranty.

I go to Bill McNamee. He is the Pug Club mechanic and lives in Gilmore.

Sounds like you have found a good mechanic that knows his way around Pugs. These are the guys we need to know about.

Hope you get all the bugs out of your 207
