    Default n3 306 speedo sensor fault manual

    1 st problem i've had, just been down a rough road now the speedo had died... any clues where the sensor lives?

    It's on the right hand (drivers) side of the diff housing from memory. It has a little rubber thing that slides in to keep it in place, but this may have come out and it rattled loose. It is a push fit. There is an alloy bit on the end of the speedo cable with a couple of O-Rings on it. give it a good push in and hopefully you will have a speedo again.

    edit: the other possibility (other than a broken cable) is that the rubber ball in the cable has come out of it's socket in the firewall and it is actually the speedo end that is not making contact. If that is the case put some soapy water on it and give it a good shove into the firewall and it should lock back into it's plastic fitting.

    Oh and the above assumes that the car has the mechanical odometer not the digital one. I think the last N3's had digital, up to 96 I think were all mechanical.
