    Default 203 front brake shoes

Here is a question on 203 front brakes that is perplexing me - is the leading (shoe to the front of the car) on the front brakes the shoe with the longer or the shorter lining? The brakes were done a few years ago and have never been any good and when we took the front brake drums off the other day there was a longer lining as the leading shoe on one and the shorter lining as the leading shoe on the other. It is so long since I did a brake job myself on a 203 (all my manuals are still in boxes after the move which doesn't help) and I cannot remember which way they go.
I had just put the poor performance down to the new asbestos free linings but this might also have something to do with it.

I have just checked the spare parts catalogue to refresh my memory. The leading shoe, which of course is the front one, is longer than the trailing shoe.
