    Default A/F Aissistance req'd

I have a request for any Melb based frogger who has an endoscope and would be willing to lend it for 24 hours. I could drop over to pick up or if you prefer you can bring it over to Box Hill and help with the diagnosis.

It's for my race car which has developed a miss & when I removed the spark plugs found one of them had made very small contact with something metallic.

An endoscope would allow me to look internally through the spark plug hole to assess what's happened. It's only a 10 minute job and I'd be willing to pay in beer, wine or petrol money if necessary.

    Thanks-Jeff

If you don't have any offers, Jaycar have these at what I think is a reasonable cost

Supercheap also have one that plugs into your laptop via a USB port. There is a small LDR built into trhe head for dark places.

I'm sure I only paid a little over $30 for it. The semi-rigid cable is 3m (?) long. Great for looking into chassis rails etc.

Wow. If the pictures/videos have any quality, we won't be able to sell old cars rusting from inside out.
But we won't buy them either.
    Bye bye R12.

I'm into DIY, but draw the line at home colonoscopy.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. As it turned out by removing the inlet manifold I could see the problem.

BTW-there are endoscopes & endoscopes. The cheapies can only look straight ahead so feeding it down through the plug hole it would see basically just the piston. Ones like Snap On (& other more expensive types) have a fitting where it can see behind itself with a small mirror.

I think the ones for a colonoscopy have a windscreen wiper on the end!

Indeed. I've looked at the cheap ones and passed. They are only good for upskirting - if that. That's why haven't bought one yet

With a really good endoscope one can look up the exhaust pipe and check if the driver's ashtray if full.
