Default 306 Central Locking Master Control Unit Location

I have a late 1997 (N5) 306 with defunct central locking. Well, the front passenger door unlocks when the ignition is turned on (weird).

One of the things I want to check is the master control unit, which I suspect might be faulty. The Haynes manual talks about it being in the A pillar, and needing to remove the seat and seat belt, which I have duly done. There is no logic to the unit being there, and I cant find any cabling or unit.

Does anyone know where the unit is located? Logically it should be behind the fuse panel below the steering wheel, but I would prefer to spend my small amount of energy looking in the right place.

Look under the rear drive seat base for the control unit.

Fixing Peugeot 306 central locking popping up, re-opening, not staying locked.

Thanks - that was helpful. It's not the same unit but the location is correct. I'm now looking elsewhere as a new central locking unit didnt fix the problem. Probably the wiring in the drivers door or the main drivers door lock.

I suggest unplugging the passenger door lock or disconnecting the door jamb plug first; this should isolate any wiring problems with the passenger door - the car will treat it as shut even when open, if all is otherwise well.
