404 engine main bearings-how many?

    Default 404 engine main bearings-how many?

    Can anyone tell me the engine no. when they switched from three to five main bearings?

    After 4401916, it's 5 bearings. It's easy to tell from the distributor holder whether it's 3 or 5.

    In Australia the change over date was at the end of 1964.
    Three bearing engine cars had the air cleaner mounted on the body.

    We did better than Matt, 10th outright.
    The 205 felt just as good on the drive home as it did before the start.
    205s are a very strong car!
