My experiences with auto box in 205 Si have been very positive.
Have always preferred and driven manuals previously.
The ZF seems to do everything right. Engine braking even.
You have to develop the technique of backing off on the brake pedal when the gearbox senses what is happening and changes down but that's no problem.
Around town the auto is an advantage and not a problem on open road.
For spirited driving I would still prefer a manual gearbox.
Need to use Dex ll , the thinner more recent Dex lll will ruin the box.
Fuel consumption is good. About 7l/100km, the same as the GTi/Mi16.

I've had a go in Aprillia's 205 Gti auto and it felt great. Smooth and plenty of poke!
