    Default 403 oil filters

I've always had trouble finding the 403 oil filter cartridges, and when I have they've been ridiculously expensive. Today I found the solution. The filter you need is a WCO167 for Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge. It's quite different to look at from the Peugeot one. Instead of having a rubber seal on the bottom it has a plastic collar which with a bit of pressure clicks snugly into the base of the 403 oil filter housing. It's not quite as tall as the 403 cartridge so you need to make a thicker washer at the top. A bit of rubber fuel hose about 1cm long does the job as fits tightly over the housing bolt and makes a good seal over the top of the filter.

The really good news is that you can get them for under $10 from here R2731P Oil Filter Chrysler 300 F2731MAF WCO167 | Direct Auto Spares

OK I sort of lied about the price because there's postage involved. But I bought 10 of them at $9.10 but with $16.00 postage that comes to $10.70 each. You can get them on eBay for US$5 but postage kills that.

    So there you go.

It's best if you can get the Purflux filters.

Really, most people in the PCCV have converted to the spin on 505 GTi filter (machining work required) as the Purflux filters were discontinued. Are these NOS?
Any of the straight 203 top hoses?

Also, the 5 bearing engines up until 1969 when the alternators were introduced.
These filters were also used in the overhead cam 1600 and 1850 Vauxhall/Torana, bet there aren't too many of these around nowadays!!

Anything's got to be better than the original bronze mesh ones.
