Australian content? Don't think so, just the early model.

Rowland Pym or Thanos would be the best people to answer this.

Could've been standard with a Cab. but was Australian content.

The outer will say "HC" embossed on the lens (dipped beam). It should have a shroud for the bulb and a dipped beam pattern on the lens fluting.

The inner will say "HR" embossed on the lens (main beam). It will have a lot less fluting and there is no bulb shroud.

It doesn't matter ,the reflectors are the same but the globe holders, which are removable ,are different ,2 low beams and 2 high beams [low beam with a shield under the globe ] The outer lights should be low beam

The lenses of the outer and inner lights are different for sure, but the reflectors are the same.

The low beam lights only come with dipping to right for continental Europe .The shield under the globe only allows light to go to the top of the reflector thus directing the light down and a little bit higher on the right side ,which may dazzle drivers in the UK. I reversed this by modifying the shields on my car . I can send photos of mod if you like.

Thought so, that's why I questioned Peters post.

Ps, I own a coupe with 4 lights so am interested in how you dealt with the reflectors

I think you're a bit confused there. Early coupe and cabriolets had 4 separate headlights but they were completely different to the 4 separate headlights that sedans in Australia got.

    picture, 1000 words, etc.

The orange headlights were something required in France in the 70/s .Cars sold new in UK had the globe covers removed to give white lights .Depending on UK MOT requirements you may be able to leave them orange to give a French look ,or you may be able to leave only the high beam ones orange .To remove the orange cover you would have to remove the globe holder by prising it out from the back of the lens .To refit again and bend the small lugs with a small screwdriver .

I will send a photo of the mods for left dipping when I have time as I have to take one light off the car to get to it .You seem to have a good collection of lights .2 look new .I wasn't able to find new ones available when I enquired a couple of years ago .[I tried Franzose and Kurt Orbie]. I had 2 spare ones and had them re silvered to as new .I think the only other cars to use the same lights are some Renault Alpine models and some 404 cabs and coupes for high beam.

Alpine A310s, both 4 and 6 cylinder were fitted with the same Cibie lights. The Vauxhall Firenza droop snoot got them too. I scored a full set off ebay UK earlier this year, or maybe last year.

Only have 3 orange caps so have just gone for high beam

yes been restoring mine over last 9yrs so have picked up bits along the way but everything becoming harder to find and prices always going up.

passed its MOT last week so Saturday was 1st time on road since sept 06 !

still got a long way to go yet and the battle with the window winders is next major issue as most of the brackets etc were rotten

504 cab coupe headlights-globe-004.jpg504 cab coupe headlights-globe-001.jpgThis is the globe holder I have modified . The shield is to direct the light to the top only to make it shine down for low beam .The shield is lower on one side to allow the light to shine a bit higher on right of the road on the continent ,but may dazzle drivers in UK. I simply cut the high side down to the level of the low side, and added a new piece to make the other side higher . If you have already passed an MOT you may not need to worry about this .When my car arrived from UK in 2010 it had small pieces of black tape an the glass to block out the glare . Good luck with sorting out the electric windows .I wonder if anyone has managed to convert to a more modern system.

Julian, thanks, understand the principle and have a spare holder so will have a go. Yes passed the mot but have been flashed a few times and don't like the "black tape" so looking or a more unseen fix.

re electric windows I have tried all sorts from polo, golf, 407 etc but cant get them to fit.
There are some units that may work but pricey https://www.a1electric.com/Merchant2..._Code=EL3000-K

So back to the original, but i am missing some major parts due to rust etc.

owen127, my lights are modified a little differently. I have no photo so I'll try to describe it.
The globe fits into a holder and the holder into the headlight, right? Now there is a notch in the headlight into which a tab on the globe holder fits. You simply cut a new notch into the headlight and fit the globe holder in a slightly rotated position. Have I made any sense at all here? If not, let me know, I'll draw a diagram and post picture. It is a real neat solution, so worth considering.

I'm going to say yes, but then I guess it depends if your looking from front or back.
