Icon4 Automatic Gear Fault - Help!

    Hi Everyone,

I just bought a 2004 Peugeot 307cc last week and the night I got it home I had the Automatic Gear Fault came up and the car went into limp mode. I pulled over, turned the car off then turned it back on and it was fine
The next day it happened 3 times during my 30 minute stop/start trip. It's gear changes are pretty rough most of the time.
I have done some research and called some people and they have suggested changing the solenoids - Which I will do when I save the cash, but I'm wondering if anyone has just done a fluid flush and fixed this problem?

    Thanks in advance

Have you priced compatible tranny fluid? Solenoids start to look cheap.

Buy them from aliexpress, they're made in China to start with.

Haven't really looked into the price of fluids yet but I got quoted $1000 to do the solenoids, so I though a fluid change might be worth doing if people have seen results. I'm not confident about changing the solenoids myself and I would have to get the ECU software updated... Wouldn't I?

I guess you bought it privately. If not, talk to the yard, as you've probably got a min 3 month warranty

Yeah - Got it privately - I didn't pay a lot and suspected it would have a few problems so this is not really a surprise. Problem is it's my first pug and don't have any experience with them.

AL4 Solenoid Valve-in Valves from Industry & Business on Aliexpress.com Sell the other four to offset your costs.

Fitment requires a cluey mechanic, 2004 build suggests your software version should be pretty much OK.

Not off the top of my head. Anyone who knows the gearbox (also found in Renaults) can do the swap; it's a two and a half hour job tops.
