Default Fitting steering wheel controls to aftermarket stereo.

As above really. I'm attempting to fit steering wheel controls to my d8 406. I've got a 306 stalk which is a 5 wire configuration which means it has an earth and 4 individual options. And I have an early 406 D9 one which is a 3 wire plug so probably simpler to install. My question her anyone else tried this? And how did you go about it. I've been to auto barn and they can get an adaptor that talks to my Alpine head unit. But there not sure about making it talk to the stalks.

Look on the Alpine website and buy the correct interface for either the 306 or 406 stalk.

Most stalks of late model cars are multiplexed so need to buy the decoder to suit the Alpine.

If Alpine doesn't list an adaptor one of these companies should have a stalk adaptor.

I would try to buy a "plug in" solution to adapt the head unit and the stalk.
