Default 407 fuel level sender unit.

    Hi All,
The fuel gauge in my 407 (petrol) is very inaccurate. It never shows full and therefore I cannot have confidence in it.
I found the unit under the back seat, so attempted to remove it, but fuel sprayed everywhere. I said a few French words and cleaned up the spilt petrol.
Can anyone give advice on how to remove? And what may be wrong with it?
    Thanks in advance.

I'd not suggest removal yet. From memory you might be able to calibrate the sender with the diagnostics.
