    Default 99 N5 GTI-6 Factory Radio

    Hi Folks,

About to pick up my immaculate new car this weekend and want to get my hands on a factory (OEM) head unit for the car. Does anybody know what they were, and if so do you have one lying about in your shed? I am told (but can't be sure) that the same headunit for the GTI6 was used in the Rallye, and one or two other models.

    Anyway, I'm looking for one.

    Cheers

My '98 GTi6 was fitted with a Eurovox Model 8790 CD compatible radio/cassette player. Not sure if they carried that model over for the next year or if it was fitted to other variants.
They might have had a single CD/radio version.

My 2000 GTi6 has a CD/FM player, no cassette. I swapped it for a Sony headunit w/ bluetooth as I'm on my P plates and wanted to do the right thing with handsfree...a few months before they went and changed the laws to no phones period for P2 drivers. Also, I couldn't get it to read CD-Rs.

Gimme half an hour and I'll get a pic up.

Right, it's a Eurovox 4685P...although I'm 95% sure the 'P' just refers to the Peugeot logo being on it. I have the radio code but the manual that came with the car is for a different Eurovox headunit with cassette and no CD, so this one may have been donated from another Pug.

It all works fine, though as mentioned I couldn't get it to read CD-Rs. I can't rule out that I was just burning them incorrectly though, as even my new headunit is a bit selective about what it will and won't play.

I had the radio in my wife's Rallye professionally changed two weeks ago. The CD/radio that came out was a Eurovox Model 4685P (as mentioned above). Everything works and all connectors present. Will cost you a case of Aldi's French St Entienne beer (which is about $28 or so). I even have the radio PIN code.

As the Eurovox is basically an Oz fitment, UK forum comments may be reflecting an OEM unit of another brand.
