    Default Peugeot 205 Timing Belt

I am interested to find out how other members changed timing belt on a 1.6 l 205 with eccentric tensioner . What did you do for the locking pin on the crankshaft according to the manual it needs to be 10mm stepped down to 8mm.

I'm quite sure the crank should just be 10mm. I just use what ever I can put my hands on. A 10mm drill should do the trick. DON'T try to undo the crank bolt with the bolt/drill bit in it. Lock the crank at the flywheel with screwdriver or something.

Obviously I don't work in a service workshop

Yep, 10mm drill here. Lock the crank on the flywheel, else it will end in disaster.

I have not removed the old belt yet and have decided to check the existing settings. I have noticed that if I put the dowel in the cam pulley to lock it I cannot lock the crankshaft pulley. Also the piston is not on TDC on cylinder 1. I might add the car was running prior to deciding to change the timing belt. Am I doing something wrong?
