    Default XN1 Electro-magnetic fan noise

    Hi all,
just recently the electromagnetic fan on my 504 motor has started an intermittent(but quite loud) clattering when it is engaged. It sounds for all the world like noisy tappets/excessive valve clearance. The fan is cutting in and out, operating as it should, yet sometimes the initial 'click' when it cuts in continues on with a loud rattling. I'd be grateful for any ideas! Cheers,
    Nigel

Check the carbon brush and the air gap between the 2 parts of the magnetic clutch.

Check carbon brush..........mine had worn a groove which caused it to stick & sometimes "rattle" causing the electro magnet to clatter.
