    And why not?

More than 40 years ago (heck) my brother and I painted a 403 station wagon with Dulux gloss enamel house paint a mid blue sort of colour and it turned out surprisingly well.

    Love it!

A mates father didn't like the finish on his wifes Mk2 Cortina when bought new, so he repainted it with a brush.
I painted a 203 recently with a brush and rollers, huge number of coats the paint was transparent I reckon, but an amazing final colour, depending on the light it would look anything from luminescent pink to brown, supposed to be orange.
Plenty of knockers of course, I shouldn't have told them how I did it.
Shortly after I got sponsorship from IPEC for the Red Centre to Gold Coast Rally so it was treated to a quick spray of industrial enamel in IPEC Yellow, this is a listed colour!

like your style, and have known a number of people who have reached for a roller or brush and ford tractor blue or caterpillar yellow.

I originally was going to paint it yellow with blue accents like door handles etc.
Decided against it and am going with white knight white and marine blue. Keeping it mostly white saves me doing inner door jambs and engine bay.
So far so good big learning experience requires lots of patience and lots of wet sanding. Primer is almost smooth enough for some paint.

I don't see much mess and, hey, it's probably entertaining the neighbours. You know, they could be looking forward to seeing the next bit of progress.
