Default Desperately Seeking 406 Coupe Front Bumper

Does anyone know where I can get a 406 Coupe Front Bumper? Somebody backed into me with a tow bar and it's not repairable
I've tried some local Sydney wreckers but no luck. Don't suppose any of you have one just sitting around?

Seriously just keep trying different panel shops till you find one that will repair it. A mate of mine has a 406 coupe and he hit a roo. We couldn't souce him one anywhere and ended up getting it repaired. (it had a chunk missing) our panel beater is very good, you couldn't tell afterwards. Annoying about 6 weeks later he hit a tree and destroyed the front this time I managed to find What I discovered to be, at the time the last front bar in the country (second hand) and he paid over a grand for it!

I took it to a smash repairer that specialised in Peugeot and euro cars who said he could do it, he's had it for about 3 weeks saying it'll be ready any day now and today he says they are waiting on a front bumper and can't repair the old one.
I've had it quoted for a repair from another place ages ago and they said about $800 as mine has a chunk missing too. Not sure why these guys can't do it.
There is a whole car on gumtree for $3000, might be worth picking up for spares, lol.
It runs out of rego today but can't get rego with no bumper

Put the bumper on, put gaffer tape over hole in bumper, register car. First things first.

You've possibly not made an ideal choice of repairer; it seems couldn't be arsed trying much to find one. Another Stolen Vehicle are advertising a green 406 for bits. Are you paying for the fix? There are several elements to the bar, make sure you get everything needed.

I just called ASV, they said they didn't have anything. Those guys are worse than useless from previous experience.
I'm paying a fixed price to get a bunch of work done, which included fixing the front bumper.
Which location has the green 406?

There is an issue with 406 Coupé front bumpers, AFAIK: there are three different types.

When you consider how short a time they were sold here — and that they only sold 460 of them — it's a bit silly.

    Villawood.

Option B is deducting the bumper work from your menu. Ade1122 could sell a bumper with all the trimmings but postage from the UK would be £200 at a guess. I've got an exhaust sitting near Milton Keynes, splitting freight would be possible.

Craig Atalay Service Centre didn't have any, neither did ASV apparently.
I've told the guy he's going to have to put the old one back on so it can pass rego and just wait until we find a new one to finish it.
I can get an aftermarket one from Poland for $450 delivered, so I think I'll do that.

With these cars selling for about $3000 on gumtree I'm wondering why I even bothered now.

    Thanks for the help everyone!

Hi Addo, I've just asked ade1122 if he has one, couldn't see one listed on ebay.
The aftermarket ones have different styling, look like they are for a body kit so probably not one I'm after.
Everything is on hold until I can get one
Either that or find someone competent enough to patch a towball sized hole and a few cracks in mine.

There's a mob in Ingleburn who do plastic bumpers. I've used them, work was reasonable but not true coachbuilder standard. You'd probably say "Everyday insurer grade".

Ade will have bars, he might ask for your VIN to double check the type. You can also ring him or email; he's on one or two UK forums as well.

He replied but said postage would be 700 pounds, which just seems crazy expensive. You could buy it a one way plane ticket for that (maybe that's how it's calculated?).
I'm trying to get this one back to a a pretty good finish, just had some dents and scratches taken out, the only thing left is the bumper but it looks to be a showstopper.

I've paid far less to get Peugeot bars over here. Ask him how much with UK delivery to MK2 3ND?

    He said 60 pounds.
I'll see if the guys at Ingleburn have a spare or can do some plastic welding to fix it, otherwise may have to resort to getting one shipped over.
I'm running out of time though, as I'm moving overseas in about 6 weeks and need to get the car sold by then.

Everything else for my parcel will be ready by late this week, I'm in for £100-odd freight already.

Can you put up some approx. measurements of the bar, as if it were a rectangle?

I've got some other options now thanks to LeRob, but will find out for you. Never hurts to have another backup plan.

    180 x 45 x 75 is the measurements for the box. Cheers.

I'm getting big quotes for that, not unlike Ade. Wrapping the bugger up really tight and bending the "ears" in gets it to about £480-odd. Still sounds a lot. :s

Yeah, sounds crazy high. The ones from Poland are only charging about $150 for shipping but it's not all of the bar bits, just the fiberglass front.
I'll see how I go with the other options.
