Icon10 Trading post 505 Gti last few weeks

There was a burgandy 505 gti in the trading post at 'Melbourne's cheapest cars' (I think) over the last few weeks. The price kept dropping and ended up at $1350. Anyone here look at it or buy it?? It's no longer on the TP site. Just curious...looked OK in the photo.......

I did breifly see it. It wasn't too bad, paint was dull and needed a bit of TLC. Don't know what the mechanicals were like. Regardless it would've been a bargain at $1350 and if you were prepared to do the work on it. They were selling it without RWC or reg, don't know if it's still there though. You want me to check it out a little further?

I saw this thread last night and was going to post but didn't have time...

Seesully, pugo, sorry to break the news but don't bother going, it's not there anymore. Me and my brother went to check it out about 3 weeks ago, a burgundy series 2 505 GTi at Melbourne's Cheapest Cars. We drove all the way to Moorabbin only to discover it had been sold about a week earlier! Serves us right for not calling first...

It looked great in pics and would have been a steal at $1350. I didn't realise they were selling it without reg or RWC - kind of explains the price.

    Cheers,
    Richard

Just noted that you both might be interested in a 505 GTI ....

I have one listed for sale here online in the cars for sale forum...

505 Gti Series 1 For Sale

Not trying to be too pushy , but i am trying to sell it ... and its alot better then what that one sounded like in the Trading Post. Want more for it then that one , obviously , but its a better car then that one , and registered.

Check out the photo's for proof.

    Thanks guys...

Not interested myself, but send a pm to pugo. I was going to check the GTI out for him.

By the way, your GTI is a bloody exceptional example! Here's hoping you enjoy it while you've still got it!

Sorry guys, I beat you all too this one

I picked up my burgundy 505 GTi from Melbourne's Cheapest Cars the week before christmas.

Silverexec - you reckon you drove a long way to see it, I bought the car over the phone and came all the way from Adelaide to pick it up!

The reason why it was so cheap was because it had no rego, no rwc and half a million kilometres on the clock. Still goes well though, I haven't touched it since I've bought it apart from fitting a cruise control to it and doing two trips to melbourne and back already. Gearbox is tired, engine blows a bit of black smoke when you really plant your foot at high revs, but it's still much more fun to drive than my 505 SR.

Just goes to show if you keep your eyes open, there are bargains to be had!

Current plans are that because this car's engine is tired, it may well get the Mi16 motor instead of the 504. Plus, I've always wanted to see how well the 1800 504 motor will go with a little snail on the side of it.................

Oh, and just to make you all even more jealous, the car has 2 dents on the boot, otherwise it is perfectly straight, no rust whatsoever, and it's the very rare 5 speed manual series 2 GTi.
